Friday – Breaking Cycles in Sumpango
BREAKING cycles — SUMPANGO GUATEMALA
Breaking Cycles is dedicated to teaching and empowering Guatemalans to overcome the negative cycles of abuse, alcoholism, poor nutrition, poverty, and illiteracy in Sumpango, Guatemala. Their vision is to see the people of Sumpango develop a relationship with God, lead prosperous lives, and become agents of change to break these negative cycles for future generations.
Building a one-room house for a family
To receive assistance, each family must own their land and contribute 20% of the expenses for building their home, with total construction costs estimated at around $2,800. Additionally, families are required to attend four parenting classes, which include an invitation to accept Christ. Breaking Cycles will provide support for student scholarships or the construction of a new house only after these requirements are met.
Family Class
Breaking Cycles also tithes on their donations to support local pastors.
Saturday – Prince of Peace Home for Girls
PRINCIPE de PAZ — hogar de niñas
Prince of Peace is home to approximately 23 girls. During our visit, we toured the girls’ homes where each girl introduced herself. Afterwards, we shared pizza with the girls and staff, and they presented each of us with a gift.
