Partners in Missions

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35

Hope for Freedom

In 1849, Henry “Box” Brown (a US enslaved man from Virginia) folded himself into a wooden crate marked “dry goods” and two friends shipped him from Richmond to Philadelphia. Brown was inside the box (3 x 2.5 x 2 feet) for the 26-hour trip, with three small holes cut for air. As abolitionists pulled Brown from the box, he sang a paraphrase of Psalm 40, expressing his hope in the God who promises freedom. “If you have never been deprived of your liberty, as I was,” Brown later wrote, “you cannot realize the power of that hope of freedom, which was to me indeed, an anchor to the soul, both sure and steadfast.”

Everyone desires to be free from that which has them in bondage. Guatemala is the third leading country in the world in the killing of women. The majority of women and their children are in bondage to some man, with little hope of enjoying freedom from abuse. Partners in Missions has made contact with an organization that currently has safe houses for abused women and children. They offer counseling, trauma-informed care, discipleship, legal and medical help, education, and job skills training.

We will continue dialogue with that mission to see if PiM can partner with them. We ask for your prayers for the Lord’s guidance and funding. This program will be an addition to our current support of orphans and students. Your partner, Karvin

God is a God of missions. He wills missions. He commands missions. He demands missions. He made missions possible through His Son. He made missions actual in sending the Holy Spirit.
