GROWING GIRLS IN GOD’S LOVE

These girls live in an area where violence against women is prevalent. What better way to empower them than by sending them to a school that provides a good-quality education centered around Christ?

Previous Church Leader Conference

An important event is coming for our churches in Guatemala: the International Convention of the Church of God in Latin America (CIID), scheduled for October 21-24, 2026. In September 2015, Partners in Missions and CRI hosted the first conferences for church leaders in Guatemala. Our objective was to provide a time of learning and fellowship that would strengthen our churches and unify us in our mission to reach more people for Christ. We were pleased to have ten church leaders attend those first conferences. Over the past eleven years, attendance has grown, averaging between 90 and 100 participants each year. This October, we anticipate around 200-250 attendees for the upcoming convention, a significant growth of the Guatemalan Church of God in the last decade.

I plan to attend the conferences, while Karla will volunteer for a few days at one of our new children’s ministries in Guatemala. I encourage you to pray for this event, as church leaders and delegates travel to attend this important time in our churches. Karvin

One of Breaking Cycles’ programs provides children with their own beds. Recently, they donated 41 beds to children whose parents had met the program requirements.

The average pastor views his church as a local church with a mission program, while he ought to realize that if he is in fact pastoring a church, it is to be a global church with a mission purpose.

We Need Your Help

New Dawning School is facing a challenging situation. The school has lost two teachers in the past four months because salaries are only $160 a month. Since teachers need to provide for their families, many are leaving their positions for higher-paying jobs.

As a private school, New Dawning does not receive any financial support from the Guatemalan government and must rely on other sources of income to fairly compensate its dedicated staff. The school hopes to raise teachers’ salaries by at least $50 per month.

If you would like to donate specifically to New Dawning School, please let us know! For any questions, you can contact us at partnersinmissions97@gmail.com.

And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

In Other News

Intercountry adoptions began in the late 1960s during Guatemala’s civil war as a solution to find homes for the children who were orphaned because of the war. However, over the next forty years, it evolved into a business with corrupt practices, including child trafficking, without much or any government regulation. The system appears to have been driven by money.

In December 2007, under international pressure, a new Adoption Law was enacted, halting international adoptions and establishing stricter regulations. Despite these changes, child trafficking continues to occur in Guatemala.

Currently, the most effective way to help is through donations. Your contributions are greatly appreciated, as they support the orphanages caring for these children. We hope to have 5-6 children adopted this year from our orphanage by Guatemalan families who go through the government screening process.
